KBLU AM 560 Returning Under New Owner
YUMA, Ariz. — Just months after KBLU AM 560 went silent, one of Yuma’s most historic radio stations prepares for a major comeback.
According to a report from Radio Business Report, The Approval Coach Broadcasting recently acquired the station. This transition brings fresh life to a local fixture whose roots trace back to 1940, when it first signed on the airwaves as KYUM. Consequently, KBLU served the Yuma area for more than 80 years before unexpectedly going dark earlier this year.

New Ownership Details Fall Relaunch for KBLU AM 560
What’s Up Yuma recently reached out to The Approval Coach CEO Derek Egeberg. He shared his team’s deep enthusiasm regarding the station’s future. Furthermore, he confirmed that preparation is already underway to bring the broadcasting favorite back to local frequencies.
“We’re excited for this new chapter of KBLU and believe the future is very bright,” Egeberg stated. “Right now, we are updating older equipment, working through crucial operational details, and building a strong foundation for what comes next.”
Additionally, Egeberg noted that the company hopes to have the station fully operational by September or early fall. The new ownership group plans to release more details about the official launch date in the coming months.
Keeping Local Radio Alive in Yuma
Most importantly, one of the company’s primary goals is maintaining a deep connection to the community that the station has served for generations.
“We want to keep AM radio alive and make sure KBLU reflects the Yuma community,” Egeberg said. “We firmly believe local radio must stay involved in the neighborhoods it serves. Therefore, we want community involvement, authentic local voices, and a station that remains truly connected to the people of Yuma.”
For many local residents, KBLU represented far more than a simple radio dial frequency. It functioned as a trusted hub where neighbors shared local news, held vital community conversations, and helped generations of broadcasters get their start behind the microphone.
Now, after a brief period of silence, KBLU’s historic story appears far from over.
